How to be a grunge girl!!

Hello Grungers!

Sorry that i don't post a lot, but i don't know what to blog!
But i have someting to blog! How to be a grunge girl!
I think that i allready post something like that, but there are always more tips so here are a few tips!

1. The music
The Music is an important part of the old fashion "Grunge" look. Make sure that you listen to old grunge artists such as Nirvana, Sonic Youth or anything that symbolizes a sense of rebellion.

2
The look is an important part of grunge. Make sure your look is always messy. For example, the hair. If you wake up in the morning, and your hair is a mess, lightly brush it out, but leave it natural. Most of the effect of grunge back in the old days was to have a natural appearance to your hair. If you have completely flat hair, try a bit of teasing to enhance the volume. Remember to not be afraid to go all out.

3
The style, and Fashion is also an important part of grunge. Many people who are "grunge" tend to wear black, grey, or white clothing. They wear dark colored jewelry as well. Jewelry is essential to the look of grunge, Such as Studded Belts, studded arm bracelets, spiked arm chains, jelly bracelets. As for the clothing itself, anything that represents your personality is fine. But make it messy, such as ripped boots. Keep it yourself. Then from there, all your own flavor comes into it. You can add a splash of color, or you can keep it simple and dark. It's all up to you. 70's-80's bands would be a great suggestion for band t-shirts, however.

4
Make up. The make up is all up to your style. Some people tend to go light make up. With just black eyeliner on the lash lines, and a bit of mascara. Others prefer to go all out and do whites, dark browns, blacks, and greys. It all depends on your style. Don't worry about shopping at high class expensive places, otherwise, you're not truly grunge. The grunge is a semi-vintage style that requires no more than your local Good Will or thrift stores.

5
The attitude. The last major attribute to being grunge is that they were known for their rebellious personalities. But be yourself. The grunge look is based on the sense of music and rebellion. But if you're not rebellious, don't try to be. Be yourself. Grunge is known for smoking and partying, and that's completely up to you. Remember, grunge people believed in just not doing what everyone else was doing. Not trying to be better or standing against. Being yourself is key to any kind of look.

Tips

  • Don't worry about being judged. Chances are, it will happen.
  • Make sure your hair is always messy, curled, or has volume to the straightness.
  • Many grunge girls wear leather jackets. Try it.
  • Be yourself (as long as being yourself is being really grunge). No one likes a poser.
  • Look glum and unhappy, tell your friends how discontent you are, although try not to be too discontent because this would make you a punk instead.

I hope it helps!

how to be a 90's girl

Hello Grungers!

How to be a 90's girl? For the girls who want to be a grunge girl but don't know how!

1
Before going out clothes shopping, you should become more familiar with this style. When most people hear the word,"grunge", they think of dirtiness, trash, rust, factories, etc. Grunge is a mix of left over punk rock and some metal. So basically to BE grunge you should think grunge. Grunge means not wanting to be popular or to be considered a pop icon. You basically drift under popular and as I'd call it, fake, society. You should be independent and not give a crap about what people want or think of you. If you just listen to Nirvana all day in flannel shirts then you're considered a poser.

2
Start listening. Only paying attention to Nirvana is rather, well...being a poser basically. There are MANY other grunge bands that you probably have never heard of. (A good example would be Hole, Dinosaur Jr., Green Magnet School, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Garbage, etc.)

3
For girls jewelry is pretty popular among us. Piercings are OK when it comes to grunge, just not EXTREME ones. I would suggest vintage or mechanical looking jewelry. Wooden and rusty metal bracelets and necklaces that have mechanical looking charms all over them are a good example. Although not too steampunk as this trend came later. Crucifixes were popular, and CND peace signs.

4
For shirts checker board plaid and simple plaid are my suggestions. You can use even something more girly like a checkerboard plaid dress that you can wear over ripped jeans. Sweaters and down vests are a must too. Avoid using clothes that look...well...new. Going to outdoor clothing shops would be a good place to go or a second hand store. Try using earthy colors like brown, green, dark blue, and to even get a little bit more girly; red, maroon, or a dark rose color. For jeans, avoid using skinny jeans. Actually, don't use skinny jeans at ALL. You'll just look just like a poser. Use baggy, ripped, patched jeans. To be more girly wear ripped short-ish shorts with flannel knee socks. For shoes, wear converse. If you buy new converse try dragging them through a puddle of mud and use a pair of scissors the shred and fray them a little. Big shoes were also very popular like combat boots and Doc Martens.

5
For makeup wear very minimal. Use brown or green eyeshadow and dark brown eyeliner and brown mascara. Lips can be dark red/burgundy/wine.

6
For hair try to avoid straightening it and just leave it out natural. (We didn't own straighteners then!)

7
And finally just follow all of these tips! And don't be to careless about other people either, still be nice.

Grungy Look

Hello Grungers or other people!

'How do i get a grungy look?'
'Want to look grunge but don't know how!'
'Want a new style and i love grunge but don't know how i get that style?'

I see a lot of those questions on the internet and i have the answer of those questions!
Want 2 know the answer? just keep reading if you don't want to know it stop reading right now!

Part 1 of 3: Clothing

Tip 1:

Go for an unkempt look. Grunge is defined by a messy, I-don’t-care look that combines punk styles with working-class clothing. If you want to dress grunge, you will have to give up any value you might put into matching or looking too clean.[1][[
  • Search the internet for pictures of some of the most famous grungers and grunge band members--Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love, William DuVall, Lana del Rey, etc.
Tip 2:
Go shopping at a thrift store. Grunge style is all about cheap clothing worn in a careless way. Thrift stores like Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Crossroads are great places to get second-hand clothes that are comfortable and just the right amount of faded. Look for clothes that are a little big on you. Avoid brightly colored items of clothing--stick with muted colors and black clothing.
  • Thrift stores are especially good places to find jeans that can be ripped easily (see Step 4 for more on denim.) Jeans found at a thrift store are generally a little more worn and faded in color--both characteristics of a grungy vibe.
Tip 3
Invest in flannel. One of the key pieces in any grunge wardrobe is a flannel shirt. Flannel, which is generally pretty cheap, was incorporated into the grunge look in the 90’s and continues to be reigning king of the grunge style. Look for flannels in muted, slightly faded colors. Both girls and guys can wear an over-sized flannel over a t-shirt or long-sleeved undershirt.
  • A girl-grunge classic look is large, baggy flannel worn over a black t-shirt and a baby doll skirt with big, chunky Doc Marten boots.
Tip 4
Wear ripped denim. Better yet, make your own ripped denim and wear that. Rip jeans are another staple of the grunge style. Keep in mind that store-bought distressed jeans look different than jeans you are ripped yourself. For a more authentic grunge look, rip your own jeans. Other good grunge-jean qualities to look for are jeans that are faded, a little loose, and acid-washed denim.
  • In the summer, look for (or make your own) ripped up denim shorts.
Tip 5
Represent your favorite punk bands. Grunge was born out of a marriage between punk style and working class clothing. Because of this pairing, another grunge staple is the favorite-band-t-shirt. Think Nirvana (but not JUST Nirvana,) Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Sound Garden, PAW, Hole, and other grunge groups.
  • One key thing to keep in mind--if you are going to rep grunge bands (and dress like a grunger) you’re going to need to actually listen to the grunge music you are representing. Listen to the classic grunge bands of the late 80’s and early 90’s--but also look into the grunge scene in your area. Start following a local grunge band, orstart your own.
Tip 6

Layer your clothes. As stated above, grunge is mostly about being comfortable and not caring how you look. A good way to get into the grunge look is by layering your clothing. Wear a big flannel or sweater over a grunge band t-shirt over a long-sleeved thermal (and so on and so forth.) Another good tip to keep in mind--your clothes don’t particularly need to match.

Part 2 of 3: Shoes and Accessories

Tip 1
Scuff up those combat boots. Grungers generally stick to boots and sneakers that can be laced up (all the better to dance in at grunge shows m’dear.) In particular, combat boots such as Doc Martens (or knock-off Docs) are a big part of the grunge look. If you can find a pair of Docs at a thrift store, you’ve hit the jackpot.

Tip 2
Invest in some high-tops. Other grungy shoes included beat up high-tops (such as Converse) and other types of shoes that sort of look like Converse but are cheaper. Again, head to a thrift store to see what kind of scuffed up kicks you can find.

Tip 3
Consider wearing stockings with holes in them. While they definitely won’t keep you warm, ripped up stockings are an essential part of any lady grunger’s wardrobe. Pair them with a black baby doll dress, some big old boots, and devil red lipstick and you’ll be good to go.

Tip 4
Wear a beanie (if you feel like it.) Grungers aren’t really known for wearing hats, but beanies are sometimes seen gracing the heads of grungy guys and gals. Avoid beanies in bright colors (never, ever choose a neon-pink beanie.)
  • Not feeling a beanie? Pull out a faded bandana and wrap it around your head, neck, hair, whatever.
Tip 5
Don’t wear too much jewelry. If anything, invest in a cool leather bracelet. If you have your ears pierced, wear simple earrings that aren’t too shiny. Dressing grunge is not about dressing to impress. You could also consider getting gauges.

Part 3 of 3: Hair and Makeup

Tip 1

Think limp and messy when it comes to hair. Like the clothing style, your hair doesn’t need to be anything fancy. Most grungers are known for their long, tangled locks that may or may not be a bit greasy (another part of the grunge style is not caring too much about hygiene.) Let your hair do whatever it wants

Tip 2

Go heavy on the eyeliner. If you decide you want to wear makeup, go for black eyeliner and mascara. Smudge your makeup after you’ve applied it. You should be going for a I-spend-all-night-at-an-underground-grunge-show-dancing-my-face-off sort of look. This means smudging that eyeliner and eyeshadow.
  • Some grunge girls like to rock bright red or dark maroon lipstick.
Extra tips:
  • If you don't want be called as a poser, don't just dress the part, act it! Study up on grunge philosophy. Get into the music. And don't forget the most important step, just be you!
  • You might get compliments for this fashion, but you might also get negative remarks. Don't expect it, but be prepared. It's important that you don't care if someone does say something negative. You want to be different—so act like it.
  • Do not spend big bucks at some store at the mall getting pre-ripped jeans or having your hair dyed professionally; it just costs way too much. Instead, take a razor blade to your jeans and let your fingers rip the rest.

Grunge, how does grunge fashion came in to the world?

 Hello Grungers!

We have our own fashion, but how does it came on our world? We know the answer, if you want to know it keep reading if you won't know it stop reading right now and go to a other website or something :)

The fashion in the 1990s was the genesis of a sweeping shift in the western world: the beginning of the adoption of tattoos,[1] body piercings aside from ear piercing   and to a lesser extent, other forms of body modification such as branding. This started the indifferent, anti-conformist approach to fashion which was popular throughout the 1990s, leading to the popularisation of the casual chic look, including T-shirts, jeans, hoodies, and trainers, a trend which continued into the 2000s.
In the early 1990s, several mid and late 1980s fashions remained very stylish among both sexes. However, the popularity of grunge and alternative rock music helped bring the simple, unkempt grunge look into the mainstream by 1994. Overall, the 1990s saw a return to the minimalist fashion of the 1950s and 1970s,[3] contrasted to the more elaborate and flashy trends of the 1980s. Additionally, fashion trends throughout the decade recycled styles from previous decades,[4] notably the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, a trend which would continue into the 2000s and 2010s.

General Trends

  • The dominant youth clothing fad at the beginning of the 1990s was fluorescent clothing in blue, green, orange, pink, and yellow. Hoop earrings were also a popular accessory for teenaged girls and women in the first years of the 1990s. Plaid shirts were also popular. Popular colors for girls included coral, hot pink, and turquoise. In Britain and the USA, girls wore oversized tee shirts, sweat shirts, sweaters, slouch socksworn over sweatpants or leggings, black or white lace trimmed bike shorts with babydoll dresses, belts worn with dresses, sweaters, and t-shirts, flatsKeds, Converse Chuck Taylor All-Starsshortallsleotardsworn as tops with jeans, and athletic shorts. Boys wore soccer shorts, jean jackets, tartan shirts, tapered acid wash jeans, and sweatpants. For example, in the Southern Suburbs of Chicago during the late 1980s and early 1990s, Z Cavericci pants and IOU sweatshirts were worn by members of the middle/upper-middle class.
  • For much of the 1990s, particularly the middle years, teenage boys and girls bought and wore very basic clothes, such as overalls, flannel shirts, and backpacks. Popular stores selling these items included Gapand Urban Outfitters.[12]
  • For younger children, the mid-late 1990s was the Golden Age of Disney films with T-shirts and sweaters featuring characters like SimbaMickey MouseAladdin, and Winnie the Pooh. Tartan trousers, striped shirts, long sleeved polo shirts, and sweaters were worn by young boys in the UK and the USA. Blue denim and railroad stripe overalls were also popular for females, as seen on television and commercials throughout the decade, and for teenagers, who would leave either strap hanging loose. A common outfit for all girls, especially tweens and teens, was to wear a skirt, dress shorts, baby doll dress or short dress with black opaque tights, white slouch socks and Converse shoes.

Grunge

  • The new wave and heavy metal fashion of the 1980s lasted until early 1992, when Grunge and hip hop fashion took over in popularity.[27] By the mid-1990s the grunge style had gone mainstream in Britain and the US, resulting in a decline in bright colors from 1995 until the late 2000s, and was dominated by tartan flannel shirts, stonewashed blue jeans, and dark colors like maroonforest greenindigobrownwhite andblack.
  • Grunge fashion remained popular among the British skater subculture until the late 1990s as the hard-wearing, loose-fitting clothing was cheap and provided good protection.[28] Members of the subculture were nicknamed grebos or moshers and included those who did not skate.

i hope that it give you the answer on your question or that it was fun to know more about your style!
